Richmond, Va. – As a nimble, customer-responsive and technologically-driven company, Performance Fibers meets customers’ needs quickly and seizes opportunities that will enable them to win in the global fiber industry.

The company brings a unique position as the only industrial fiber player with a global footprint in North America, Asia and Europe, giving it the ability to serve customers’ local needs for innovative product technology with speed, flexibility and responsiveness.

Performance Fibers’ products are used in such diverse end uses as tire cord, conveyor belting, hoses, automotive safety, geotextiles, offshore mooring ropes, cordage, netting, sewing threads and embroidery fabrics.

Growing Company

Since being divested from Honeywell International and purchased by Sun Capital Partners, Inc. in December 2004, Performance Fibers has aggressively expanded through acquisitions and internal expansions in the three regions where it operates, broadening its portfolio and strengthening its positions. These include:

  • Acquiring INVISTA’s North America tire cord and polyester industrial filament businesses in March 2008. With this purchase, the company added four plants in the U.S. and Mexico that manufacture industrial polyester, Nylon-6 and tire cord fabric.
  • Acquiring INVISTA Resins & Fibers GmbH’s German polyester yarn business in August 2006. Since the acquisition, the company announced two polyester yarn expansions at the new facilities and the establishment of a new European executive management headquarters in Luxembourg.

  • Acquiring the North American business of Diolen Industrial Fibers, Inc., a leading producer of high-tenacity polyester yarns, in August 2005.
  • Expanding its manufacturing operations in Kaiping, China, multiple times to continue to meet strong demand for its dimensionally stable polyester (DSP® fiber) products, including a greenfield expansion completed in 2006, a tire fabric cord expansion completed in 2007 and additional expansions planned in the region.
